Laura Tsekhmister, Brave Heart, Bonney Lake, Washington
I'm Laura Tsekhmister, the breeder behind Brave Heart. I brought more than a decade of European breeding experience to the US, and I keep learning through specialized seminars on canine reproduction, preservation breeding, and structure and conformation. Understanding the science behind a well-made dog is what led me to purposeful breeding.
Our goal is simple: healthy, structurally sound, beautiful Cavaliers with sweet temperaments. Our breeding dogs live in our home, and Eugene and I stay in touch with every family long after their puppy goes home.

Our standards
Health first
Our breeding dogs are health tested, and every puppy is checked and prepared before going home. Ask us for the results of your litter's parents.
Parent health testing
Cardiac evaluation, registered with OFA. Heart disease is the best-known health concern in Cavaliers, so this is a cornerstone of our program.
Eye certification (CAER), registered with OFA, screening for inherited eye conditions.
Patellar luxation screening, plus hip and elbow evaluations.
Genetic tests for Episodic Falling Syndrome (EFS), Cavalier muscular dystrophy (CKCS-MD), and Dry Eye Curly Coat Syndrome.
Every puppy goes home with
Examined by a veterinarian before going home, with full vet records.
First round of vaccinations and deworming completed.
Microchipped and eligible for AKC registration.
Food, treats, and toys, plus a blanket carrying the scent of mom and littermates to help with the first nights at home.
A written contract that requires spaying or neutering and includes a Return to Breeder clause, so a Brave Heart dog never ends up in a shelter.
